365 Challenge // Day 7

Confession time... This photo was NOT taken on Day 7 :(

We were holding a rummage sale on both Friday (Day 7) and Saturday (Day 8) and I literally didn't even think of bringing out the camera on Friday. So Saturday I snapped a photo that applied to what I did Day 7.

This is a photo of one of the items a friend of ours was selling at their garage sale. Its an antique Candy Store Register. So little, HEAVY and cute!

365 Challenge // Day 6

So, I realize I'm not actually posting ON day 6... but I will say that I did photograph this on day 6! I haven't had time up until today to post my photos from the last few days!

I found a Bower Mirror Lens in a bin while I was prepping for a garage sale. I got this lens in a kit I bought years ago and I haven't used it because it didn't fit any of my cameras... UNTIL I decided to try it out on a film camera of mine! I found out that the mirror lens fits on my Canon AE-1 Program! Woohoo!

So I went out, tested the lens by driving around town and taking some shots. I got a little impatient and after 15 shots took the roll of film to the one-hour photo at a local drug store. Here is one of my favorites! A photo of a Weeping Willow.

365 Challenge // Day 5 (Part 2)

Tonight another precious and beautiful thing happened... so I just had to photograph it! Brindy carries her precious little baby bear with her and snuggles with it frequently. Here is a special little moment she was having with her baby this evening.

365 Challenge // Day 5

Yay! Another photo that just 'happened'. This little pup just LOVES to stare out the front window. She is so observant. Her favorite time to sit in the front window is when Daddy is about to be home... so precious.

365 Challenge // Day 4

Today was the first day I've had it happen: I was making coffee in an antique percolator I bought about 6 months ago. I left it on the stove to do its 'percolatin' and when I came back... there it was! The perfect photo opportunity :) HAPPY!

365 Challenge // Day 3

I love this pup. We got her last year and I'm so thankful for all this time we have gotten with her and all the times we are going to have with her. She is seriously the sweetest little dog you could meet... Anyone who's met her would agree!

365 Challenge // Day 2

I'm only my second day in and I can already see why this is called a 'challenge'. I think I'm looking a little too hard and not just letting things happen... but at the same time it really is making me LOOK for things. So this is going to be VERY good for me!!!

365 Challenge

I'm starting a 365 Challenge...

What does this mean?

It means EVERYDAY I will be posting at least one photo, doesn't mean that I will necessarily say anything about each photo, I'm going to try to make this project work by requiring as little as possible

I am REALLY looking forward to learning more and more everyday. I realized that I'd begun to feel that there wasn't anything beautiful to photograph around me... I live in northern Minnesota... this is clearly NOT the case.

Anyways, Willy Wonka said "If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it". That is what I'm making a point to do. I'm looking forward to what I will being seeing through my lens!

Thank you for taking this journey with me!

Sorting Through and Organizing Life

Right now I'm sitting in Starbucks in Fargo, drinking tea and thinking...

Joel has training here so I rode along because I knew if I had nothing else to do I'd get stuff done. It seems I've developed a bit of a habit lately. I have my pile of good intentions... and then I go to the other things that are on my desk at that moment. I completely avoid what I've set as my 'to-do' pile. It's not that I am avoiding them on purpose, or that they make me nervous or anything. It's more that I get distracted.

Joel always teases me because APPARENTLY I can be in the middle of a conversation and if someone pulls out chocolate or something shiny (or both... like a hershey's kiss) I go 'Ooo!' and reach for it, completely forgetting where I was at. I feel like I do that sometimes with my everyday tasks.

Now don't get me wrong, I complete dozens of things everyday... I'm not being lazy or just sitting around... I'm just not completing my list.

I've been talking to God about it, asking Him to help me with my issue, and He has shown me how I need to set myself up. I get overwhelmed with the idea of completing something in one sitting, yet its what I want to do. Which is why I procrastinate so often and rush to finish things! But what He showed me is that I can do things bit by bit. He also showed me that I can seek Him daily on what to complete. He knows the days that I just need to sit. He knows the days I can complete 1,000 things like super woman. He knows... He knows.

I'm learning. I'm growing. I'm coming along.

I guess the reason I wrote this was to encourage you... if you have something you do that you don't like about yourself. Ask God. Ask Him why it is you do what you do, and not only that, but how to fix it.

That is all.

Have a great day!

California Family Vacation - Day 5

Day 5 was a pretty laid back day... it started out with Auntie Karen making amazing pancakes!

Then Uncle Steve, Dillon, Joel & I all went out to go frisbee golfing! We had a lot of fun scouring the little hillside. And I think we all did pretty good!

Joel was very happy when he found this stick that resembled a machine gun... so he walked around like a soldier shooting things... I'm married to a 3 year old.

Then we went to Jen & Jeremy's for some AMAZING jambalaya... seriously. This was the best I've ever had. And I just want to eat more and more of it... thinking about it makes my mouth water....

Everyone leaves me tomorrow!

California Family Vacation - Day 4

Well, today was VERY laid back. It was such a great relaxing day. We started off by heading up to the Redwoods! Oh my goodness... those trees are so big and so beautiful!

We found two spots that created a heart :) Oh, how He loves us...

We had a picnic of AMAZING homemade Chicken Salad. SO DELICIOUS! Seriously... Aunt Karen makes such amazing things...

Then we were off to the beach! On the way there we stopped at this awesome little coffee shop... and then we saw the Mystery Machine on the side of the road! All three of us kids LOVE Scooby Doo... so we, of course, had to stop and take pictures with it :)

The beach was soooooo beautiful! It was fun to go on a walk down the beach, holding hands with Joel, and exploring to see what we could find. The birds kept us entertained as well! We just enjoyed hanging out and listening to the sounds of the waves smacking the shore... so peaceful.

Joel learned how to boogie board! And looked so good doing it ;)

While we were out there I asked Dillon to take some pictures of Joel and I. He did SUCH a good job, I seriously love them all. If you want to see more {click here}

It was an amazing adventure today... and what better way to finish it out than to watch the sunset on the beach....

So beautiful :) Alright... the family all leaves on Friday morning... so one more full day of photos with them. Then I'm here by myself for an additional 8 days, so there is much more to be seen!

California Family Vacation - Day 3

Today was a FULL day!

We got up really early (ok... 7:45 isn't THAT early) so we could get to San Francisco and go to Alcatraz! I love going out there. Not only is the prison fascinating, but there are SO many beautiful things to look at and photograph around the prison! I took so many pictures... WAY more than I was gonna put on this blog. But I'll definitely be showing you a few! We took the ferry out of Fisherman's Wharf.

Dillon got a harmonica as a souvenir from Alcatraz, he's actually really good at it! So he's been playing that over and over for the rest of the day. But I don't mind listening to it... I actually like it. Especially since he sounds like he knows what he's doing! Haha.

Then we went out to eat in Fisherman's Wharf and went down to visit the sea lions! They are so cute!!!

A very interesting thing happened while we were watching them... Ally was eating her caramel apple and a seagull kept hovering over her... until he just snatched it right from her hand!!! I actually happened to capture it because I wanted to get a picture of him hovering... but caught something WAY funnier! Hahahaha I seriously laughed SO hard!

We then went to see the Golden Gate Bridge. I like going up on the hill and looking at it. Its a great view of the bridge and an awesome view of the city!

We finished off the evening with one of the best moments of my life...
WE WENT TO SEE THE 'FULL HOUSE' HOUSE!!!!
Full House is my FAVORITE childhood television series... I own all of them. And I love watching them over and over again. Well, the house that was the 'street shot' is actually in San Francisco! They, of course, filmed the rest of the house on a set, but it was so fun to go in front of the house. Dillon suggested we listen to the theme song of the show while we skipped up to it. It was epic.

Seriously... My day ended perfectly.

Alright guys! Goodnight!
